THE ASSUMPTION - DUBLIN, IRELAND 1909

According to the Tradition coming to us from the Eastern Church, after the falling asleep of the Virgin Mother, she was buried, but her body did not suffer corruption. When the tomb was opened it was empty, filled with flowers and the fragrance of holiness.
This image is rare in that it combines the traditions celebrated in the East and in the West.
